MIYA · THE SHORT VERSION

Miya in plain words

Last updated October 20, 2026

The short version of Miya's Terms and Privacy Policy, in plain words. It is written so anyone 13 or older can follow it, even on a tired day. The full versions are the ones that count.

Not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911. In a crisis, call or text 988.

What Miya is

Miya is a quiet place to keep small notes during cancer treatment: what you managed to eat or drink, what felt hard, and what helped.

Miya is not a doctor. It does not give treatment, food, fasting or supplement advice. Your oncology team does that.

If you need help right now

Miya is not an emergency service. Nobody watches it in real time, not your care team and not us.

In an emergency, call 911. If you are thinking about hurting yourself or feel in crisis, call or text 988, any time, day or night.

You can also tell a parent, a guardian or someone on your care team.

How AI works in Miya

Miya has no AI chat. There is nothing in Miya you can chat with.

Miya, the companion, says a few short lines now and then. A person wrote them ahead of time. They never comment on food, amounts or your body, and you can turn them down or off.

There is one AI feature, photo naming, and it is off until you say yes. When it is on, a copy of a meal photo goes through our server to a company called OpenAI. Its AI sends back a short food name, and nothing else.

AI can get things wrong. We do not keep the photo, and it is never used to train AI.

If you are 13 to 17

A parent or legal guardian has to agree to the Terms for you, and you say that you want to use Miya too.

Kids under 13 cannot use Miya.

What a parent or guardian can do

Your parent or guardian can email us at pippa.app.general@gmail.com to ask what we have about you, to take back their OK, or to ask us to delete it. Deleting closes your account.

If someone helps you on your phone, they can add notes too, and each note shows who wrote it.

What your care team sees

Nothing at first. Your care team only sees your notes after you connect to their program with a code or invite and agree to share.

After that they can see what you note in Miya, your help requests and your messages. They do not watch it live.

You can stop sharing in the app at any time, and their access stops.

What stays on your phone

Your meal photos stay on your phone. So do your date of birth and your answer to the Terms.

When you are signed in, your notes are copied to our servers so they are backed up and can reach your care team if you connect one.

What we never do

We never sell your information. We show no ads. There are no ad or tracking tools in Miya. We never use your notes to train AI.

Free, with an optional extra

Miya is free. Noting, asking for help, your care team and your history never cost anything. An optional Pro subscription adds extras, like more looks for your companion. Apple or Google handles any payment.

Leaving

You can delete your account any time. It closes right away, and your information on our servers is erased within 30 days. How to delete your account.
